Kings County Breakfast Programs Receive Support from Local Masonic Lodges

School breakfast programs at Kings County schools have received a boost through a generous donation by Kings District Masonic Lodges.

Members of the AVRSB Finance and Audit Committee welcomed A.N. Sandy Buchan, District Deputy Grand Master for Kings District, Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia, and Jim Luddington, Senior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia and a Director of the Nova Scotia Masonic Foundation, who presented a donation totalling $5,472 on May 31.

Phil Van Zoost, Finance and Audit Committee Chair joined Superintendent Roberta Kubik in thanking Mr. Buchan and Mr. Luddington for the Masons’ continued support of breakfast programs, which have a direct and positive impact on students and their learning. Students who start their day with good nutrition are more able to learn, focus and participate in class.

Funds raised by Kings District Masonic Lodges are tripled by the Nova Scotia Masonic Foundation; since 2012, over $30,000 has helped to provide Kings County students with a nutritious start to the school day.

Sincere thanks to the Nova Scotia Masonic Foundation, and to the members of each Kings District Lodge for supporting students and exemplifying AVRSB’s vision of working together for students:
