AVRSB Students Shine at Provincial Concours d'Art Oratoire

Six AVRSB students have achieved gold or silver standing for their French public speaking skills at the annual provincial Concours d’art oratoire, held May 6 in Halifax.

Following the regional Concours d’art oratoire, students in grades 5 to 12 who placed in the top three in their respective category had the opportunity to proceed to the provincial competition.

Both the regional and provincial Concours d’art oratoire celebrate official bilingualism in Canada, and honour the many hours of hard work students put in to learning French every day.

Canadian Parents for French provides prizes and recognition for all students who achieve gold or silver standing at the provincial competition.

Gold and silver medal winners in grades 5-10 receive prize packages. In addition, grade 9-10 students who achieve gold standing receive an Encounters with Canada theme week in Ottawa.

Students in grades 11 and 12 who achieve gold at the provincial level receive an all-expenses paid trip to Ottawa to attend national finals. Both silver and gold medallists in these grades also receive scholarships to attend Universite Sainte-Anne or Universite de Moncton.
